Finch
Tahoe City, CAClient Michele Finch had purchased an average vacation home on an outstanding lake-view piece of Tahoe City property. Problem was, the detached garage was falling apart, the main entrance at the side of the house was hard to find and she wanted to be able to rent the place out and still have a private area to stay in even if the house was occupied by a tenant. Finally, a neighbor was very concerned that if the house got taller it could block their lake view. The solution was to demolish the old garage and a connecting walkway to the side entry and replace it with a new two-story attached garage with an owner’s apartment above. Locating the garage as far to one side and as close to the street as possible (a set-back variance was required), allowed a two story addition without blocking the neighbor’s view.
