Structural Engineer selected as a finalist for Excellence In Concrete Awards

Gary Davis Group, Inc. is proud to announce that our Structural Engineer, Kevin Chappell, has been selected as a finalist in The Excellence in Concrete Awards for his work with Structural Solutions, INC. on The Poisson Residence.  This 4,100 square foot residence in Central Point, Oregon employed concrete as not only a structural element, but also an aesthetic one. In addition to the foundations, prominent interior and exterior walls were exposed concrete. The exterior concrete walls were interlaced with canted steel columns and glass to create a nested effect. There were thick, curved concrete walls in the interior to promote flow through the common living spaces.

The Excellence In Concrete Awards program began 35 years ago, and continues today, as a way to recognize projects that use concrete in extensive or innovative ways. It is a co-presentation of volunteer effort by the Oregon Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association and Oregon Chapter of American Concrete Institute. EIC awards are well known, and carry a great deal of prestige throughout the industry.  The entries are judged as best-of-category and include bridges, commercial, ICF, residential, public facility, craftsmanship, transportation, industrial, utility and any other category that applies from year to year.
