TRPA Best in Basin Award to Tahoe City Marina - Gary Davis Group is proud to be part of the team that provided the Civil Engineering for the Lakeside and Landside Marina Development.

In the heart of Tahoe City and in close proximity to the lake, the marina and its uses have needed to provide for multiple community priorities.  The project fulfilled too many roles, so it was judged as a mixed-use project and is correctly receiving an award this year.  TRPA recognizes that marina planning and operation must make a positive contribution to the community and the lake. The Tahoe City Marina achieved those goals by faithfully implementing a master plan that was approved more than 5 years ago. The scope and intended goals of the project as mapped out in the original master plan frame why the project is being recognized:

• The marina improved public access from the land by integrating the Lakeside Trail into its waterfront area, which just received its TRPA Best in the Basin award. To ensure safe, hospitable use of the Lakeside Trail along its waterfront, the marina agreed to prohibit boat launching across the trail during peak times in the summer season.
• To reduce noise and engine emissions from marina services, an existing diesel fork-lift system was replaced with an electric gantry for lifting and moving boats between the marina and the storage facility.
• Best in the Basin judges were also impressed by the self-contained boat wash that recycles, cleans, and safely removes boat wash water and the new boat fueling system with leakage detects alarms and safety shutdown features. The design of the marina itself also maximizes flushing of marina-enclosed waters as required by TRPA.
• Not only did implementation of the Tahoe City Marina Master Plan create a public/private partnership by integrating the Lakeside Trail and public access pier, but also created a new Tahoe City Public Utility District waste water pump station and building onsite.
